Visual Art

Jenna Madden

In the era of COVID-19, we are providing art lessons via video. We are endeavoring to provide the same level of learning as we would in the classroom. Our Student Art Gallery represents work done by students at home.

Classroom Art

Students come to Art once a week for instruction. With each lesson and project, a basic element of art is emphasized to foster an understanding and foundation in the visual arts. Students are able to build on this foundation as they advance through school.

Basic Elements of Art

  • Line
  • Color
  • Value
  • Texture
  • Shape
  • Space
  • Form

After School Art

During After School Art Sessions, we meet from 3:15 – 4:15 on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Each Project we do revolves around a type of art from another culture. Students learn about different people groups and cultures while creating fun and unique artwork.

ASCI Art Festival

We participate in the ACSI art festival each year. A few students from each grade who have demonstrated exceptional artistic skills will be selected to have their artwork in the festival. Each piece entered gets adjudicated and evaluated. This is a chance for students to show their work in a venue outside of our school, as well as see what students from other schools are creating.

Open House Art Show

Each year for Open House there is a student art show in the basement at school. This is an exciting part of the year, because the students get to see how their hard work throughout the year has paid off. Every student has an art piece displayed in their classroom as well as in the basement. Their Art Portfolios, which hold all the artwork they have made for the year, are also set out in the basement to look through.
